Tokyo Steel Orders 420T Electric Furnace to Danieli

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing decided to introduce world largest direct current electric furnace with 420 tonnes of capacity at Tahara plant in Aichi. The firm submitted the order including ladle furnace and degasser to Danieli of Italy. Tokyo Steel also submitted order for reheat furnace to Osaka based steel plant maker, Chugai Ro Co., Ltd. completing the order for the major facilities for the new plant with 2.5 million tonnes of output capacity, which starts operation in 2009. Tokyo Steel already submitted order for hot strip mill to Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries and for continuous pickling line to SMS Demag. Tokyo Steel improves the electric furnace operation with the experience at Utsunomiya and Okayama plants. The firm uses liquefied petroleum gas as the energy. The firm reduces the initial cost at least by 10% through the largest electric furnace. The firm is still considering for the order for continuous caster. The firm will produce high quality sheet steel for automobile and other applications with the wide hot strip mill and continuous pickling line. The firm tries to supply the high grade sheet to Toyota Motor and other automakers.
