JECTEC to Widen Conformity Assessment Business toward 2010

Japan Electric Cable Technology Center (JECTEC), an aggregate corporation formed by Japanese electric cable and wire manufacturers, announced on Friday JECTEC strengthens its conformity assessment business for electric cables and wires as a core of the 3-year management plan toward March 2010. JECTEC aims to expand its annual revenue for the conformity assessment business to more than 130 million yen in fiscal 2009 ending March 2010 from 100 million yen in fiscal 2006, while the center will keep the total revenue size at 420-430 million yen.JECTEC provides services such as conformity assessment for electrical appliances and materials, test and survey for electric cables’ safety and reliability, commissioned and joint research for cable material recycling, information collection and provision on electric wires and cables. JECTEC is formed by Japanese 67 electric cable makers and 40 supporting members such as electric cable users and sheath material makers.JECTEC gains the main revenue from the conformity assessment business for Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law. Along its new 3-year plan, the center aims to grow up the conformity assessment business for new Japanese Industrial Standards as the second revenue source. JECTEC also plans to widen the business fields to overseas standards such as UL, IEC and CE Marking.The center also plans renewal of old laboratory facilities and shift to the public interest corporation along the 3-year plan.
