JFE Steel Raises Steel Sheet Price for Chinese and South East Asian Consumers

JFE Steel advanced price negotiation of steel sheet with coil centers and local consumer-electronics makers in China and South East Asia for the shipment in April-June and decided to increase by US$ 30-80 per tonne from January-March.The firm raises the selling price of by US$ 30-40 for cold rolled, electroplated and hot dipped zinc coated steel sheet for the shipment in April-June from in January-march, by US$ 70-80 for non-directional magnetic steel sheet. The firm increases the price of cold rolled, electroplated and hot dipped zinc coated steel sheet for 5 quarters and of non-directional magnetic steel sheet for 4 quarters. The firm will present the price hike for the shipment in July-September. Meanwhile, the firm is continuing the price negotiation with Japanese consumer-electronics makers and requires their understanding based on showdown with Chinese and South East Asian makers. In China, the appliance production for air conditioner, refrigerator or clothes washer keeps good. The production of flat-screen television or personal computer is expanding in the world. Consequently, the demand for cold rolled, electroplated and hot dipped zinc coated steel sheet, non-directional magnetic steel sheet is growing. International market price of slab for re-rollers and of hot coil keeps higher with tight supply. Bao Steel in China and China Steel Corporation in Taiwan are raising their selling price of steel sheet for April-June.
