Lower No.1 Copper Wire Scrap Deals in Tokyo

No.1 copper wire scrap arrivals and shipments decreased for Tokyo’s dealers in February from a year earlier, according to industry group. The arrivals decreased by 23.1% and the shipments decreased by 27%. The sellers were reluctant for the deal and the market supply was tight when Japanese official copper ingot price hit yearly bottom of 690,000 yen per tonne in early February. The arrivals and shipments for brass turning scrap also decreased in February from a year earlier. The dealers purchased less scrap when brass bar makers reduced the scrap purchase volume. Low grade copper scrap arrivals and shipments increased by 2.5% in February from a year earlier. Arrivals of copper alloy scrap for castings increased by 28.2% while the shipments were flat. Aluminium scrap shipments decreased by 7.1% in February from a year earlier while the arrivals were flat. Lead scrap arrivals decreased by 3.2% while the shipments increased by 23.2%.
