Japan Stainless Scrap Export Rises by 13% in February

Japanese stainless steel scrap export increased by 13% to 19,810 tonnes in February from a year earlier, according to Ministry of Finance. The volume decreased to less than 20,000 tonnes for the first time since September 2006. The export has kept more than 10,000 tonnes for 5 months in a row despite of the drop by 4% from January 2007. The export to South Korea was 8,710 tonnes in February, which increased by 26% from January and 34% lower than a year earlier. The export to China was 10,560 tonnes, which decreased by 18% from January and 167% higher than a year earlier.
