Japan Import Steel Stock Drops by 6.5% in June

Japanese import steel inventory at quay in Osaka and Tokyo decreased by 6.5% or 14,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes at the end of June from May, which decreased in for the first time in 3 months, announced by Hanwa Co. on Friday. The stock decreased by 22.0% from a year earlier.Because hot rolled coil stock decreased in June that increased in April and May, total stock decreased. The inventory is decreasing around Osaka, which decreased for hot rolled coil for 5 moths, for cold rolled coil and steel plate for 2 months compared with May.The inventory in Osaka decreased by 5.5% or 6,000 tonnes to 103,000 tonnes at the end of June from May. The inventory decreased by 17.0% or 2,000 tonnes to 10,000 tonnes for plate, by 7.7% or 2,000 tonnes to 24,000 tonnes for hot coil and by 2.8% or 2,000 tonnes to 69,000 tonnes for cold coil.The inventory in Tokyo decreased by 7.6% or 8,000 tonnes to 97,000 tonnes at the end of June from May. The inventory decreased by 10% or 1,000 tonnes to 9,000 tonnes for plate and by 10.0% or 7,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes for hot coil while the cold coil stock was flat at 28,000 tonnes.
