Japan 2 Major Shutter Makers Post Loss for April-June

Japanese major 2 shutter makers of Sanwa Shutter Corporation and Bunka Shutter posted consolidated net loss for April-June. They were suffered from higher raw materials cost including aluminium and steel products. They try to improve the profitability through price hike and cost cutting along with better products mix including new products. Sanwa Shutter posted 313 million yen of consolidated net loss for April-June compared with 466 million yen of loss in same period of 2006. The firm posted 2.9% higher sales at 64.557 billion yen due to favorable sales in Europe. However, with the cost pressure, the firm posted 207 million yen of operating loss compared with 188 million yen of loss in same period of 2006. Bunka Shutter posted 53 million yen of consolidated net loss for April-June compared with 305 million yen of profit in same period of 2006. The firm posted 3.8% lower sales at 26.129 billion yen due to slower demand for housing and nonresidential building. The firm posted 20 million yen of operating profit compared with 525 million yen profit in same period of last year. Another major shutter maker of Toyo Shutter posted 168 million yen of consolidated net profit for April-June, which was 117.5% higher than same period of 2006. The firm posted 6.3% higher sales at 5.102 billion yen when the firm increased the steel door sales by 34%. The firm succeeded to post 66.5% higher operating profit at 210 million yen through the selective sales and cost cutting effort.
