Showa Denko Raises Aluminium Sales by 1.6% in 1H

Showa Denko increased the aluminium sales by 1.6% to 43,788 tonnes for parent company in January-June from same period of 2006. The aluminium unit increased the sales by 3.6% to 82.1 billion yen. The market is firm for automobile despite of slower demand for construction.

The sales increased by 5.2% to 8,373 tonnes for flat products in January-June from same period of 2006. The sales increased by 3.6% to 11,948 tonnes for foil while the sales decreased by 0.5% to 23,467 tonnes for extrusion. The flat products sales were firm for highly heat-conductive aluminium alloy, ST60 while the extrusion was slow for construction. The foil demand was high for electrolytic capacitor.

The sales increased by 12.5% to 24 billion yen for rolled light metals and by 0.4% to 58.1 billion yen for processed products. The firm succeeded to pass the higher cost price for aluminium ingot.
