Japan Import Steel Stock Drops by 1.0% in July

Japanese import steel inventory at quay in Osaka and Tokyo decreased by 1.0% or 2,000 tonnes to 198,000 tonnes at the end of July from June, which decreased for 2 consecutive months, announced by Hanwa Co. on Monday. The stock decreased by 22.0% or 56,000 tonnes from a year earlier.Cold rolled coil stock increased in July from the previous month while hot rolled coil stock decreased in Tokyo and Osaka. Hot rolled coil stock decreased for 2 consecutive months in Tokyo and for 6 consecutive months in Osaka.In Tokyo, the inventory decreased by 2.1% or 2,000 tonnes to 95,000 tonnes at the end of July from June. The inventory was flat at 9,000 tonnes for plate in July compared with June, and decreased by 5.0% or 3,000 tonnes to 57,000 tonnes for hot rolled coil while the stock increased by 3.6% or 1,000 tonnes to 29,000 tonnes for the cold coil.The inventory was same level at 103,000 tonnes in July over the previous month in Osaka. The inventory decreased by 20.0% or 2,000 tonnes to 8,000 tonnes for plate, and decreased by 1,000 tonnes or 4.2% to 23,000 tonnes for hot rolled coil while the stock increased by 4.3% or 3,000 tonnes to 72,000 tonnes for cold rolled coil.
