Japan Battery Makers Adopt New Price to Reflect Copper Price

Japanese battery makers and electric power related equipment makers review their purchasing price system for copper alloy products. A source of Osaka based copper alloy connector pin manufacturer said Japanese major battery makers including GS Yuasa Corporation recently adopted a new price system along which copper alloy product prices would fluctuate to reflect 2-month-ago monthly average of Japanese official copper ingot price. Electric power related users, such as makers of transformers, also seem to adopt a new price system for copper alloy products to reflect the fluctuation of copper ingot price regularly.Previously the fixed price system was adopted among the users for copper alloy manufactured products which cannot reflect timely copper price fluctuation, while domestic makers of copper rolled products and copper cables who supply their products directly to the users can reflect the timely cost fluctuations.Under the new price system, copper alloy product manufacturers become to face difficulty when copper ingot price decreases and their reselling prices becomes lower than cost prices. However, the manufacturers feel the new price system is even better than the previous fixed price system.
