JFE Steel Achieves 20,000t Sales for Its New High-Tensile Steel Plate

JFE Steel announced on Monday its total sales of TMCP (Thermo Mechanical Control Process) steel plate (HBL385) achieved 20,000 tonnes due to the expansion of adoption for welded tetrahedral box frame of superhigh-tall buildings. HBL385 has the tensile strength at 550 Newton per square meter. With its higher strength and welding performance, the constructors can decrease steel usage weight by about 15% compared with previous TMCP steels. HBL385 was adopted at over 5,000 tonnes to a superhigh-rise tower near Tokyo Station completed in October 2007.HBL385 is one of JFE Steel’s only and no.1 products. It can reduce the thickness of steels by about 15% compared with existing 325N class TMCP steels and decrease steel frame cost by about 20% in case of fabrication of columns or beams. JFE Steel can supply HBL385 plate of various sizes between 19-100 millimeters thick.JFE Steel seeks more order acceptances of HBL385 for city redevelopment.
