Sumitomo Electric Group to Expand Wire Harness Share

Sumitomo Electric Industries plans the wiring harness making subsidiary, Sumitomo Wiring Systems posts 600 billion yen of sales in the year ending March 2013, which represents 17.2% higher than the year to March 2007. Sumitomo Electric group tries to expand the automobile wiring harness sales to 900 billion yen in the year to March 2013 from 766.4 billion yen in the year to March 2007. The firm tries to expand the automobile wiring harness sales to non-Japanese automakers increasing the world market share to 25% in the year to March 2013 from current 21%. The firm tries to increase the sales share for non-Japanese automakers to 15% from 10%. Sumitomo Wiring System produces and designs the wiring harness with 95 firms in 30 countries and 23 firms in Japan. The firm expands the sales to foreign automakers including Ford Motor, Volkswagen, Peugeot and Fiat. The firm also expands the solution suggesting effort for foreign automakers. The firm focuses on the development of automotive electric wire, which is base of wiring harness. The firm tries to develop high valued wire including halogen free items, cadmium free products and high tensile ultra fine wire.
