Japan Import Steel Stock Rises by 7.5% in August

Japanese import steel inventory at quays in Osaka and Tokyo increased by 7.5% or 15,000 tonnes to 213,000 tonnes at the end of August from a month earlier, up for the first time in 5 months, announced by Hanwa on Tuesday. Especially cold rolled coil stock increased in August. The total stock decreased by 24% or 24,000 tonnes from a year earlier.The inventory increased by 9.7% or 10,000 tonnes to 113,000 tonnes around Osaka in August from July, increasing by 50% or 4,000 tonnes to 12,000 tonnes for steel plate, by 17.3% or 4,000 tonnes to 27,000 tonnes for hot rolled coil and by 2.7% or 2,000 tonnes to 74,000 tonnes for cold rolled coil.The inventory increased by 5.2% or 5,000 tonnes to 100,000 tonnes around Tokyo at the end of August from a month ago. The inventory decreased by 11.1% or 1,000 tonnes to 8,000 tonnes for plate and by 10.3% or 3,000 tonnes to 26,000 tonnes for cold rolled coil while increased by 15.7% or 9,000 tonnes to 66,000 tonnes for hot coil.
