Nippon Steel to Ship Special Steel Wire Rod More in Oct-Dec

Nippon Steel will increase the special steel wire rod shipment by 10-15% to more than 180,000 tonnes in October-December from same period of 2006. The firm expects the shipment renew record under the firm demand for high valued products. The shipment increases for every quarter since April-June 2006 and the firm expects the trend could continue for January-March 2008. The firm tries to meet the strong demand by adjusting the delivery schedule for some users under the limited supply ability. The firm advices inventory rate to users and optimizes the delivery. The firm establishes better supply chain management system in 2008 to improve the stock and supply management through trading firms and users. Nippon Steel sees the tire code demand is strong at home and abroad and the spring steel demand is firm for global operations of Japanese automakers in October-December. The firm expects the wire rope demand is also firm for elevator while the prestressed concrete wire demand improves with major projects including Haneda airport expansion and Sharp Corporation’s new plant in Osaka.
