Japan Steel Export Rises by 4.4% in August

Japanese steel export increased by 4.4% to 3.159 million tonnes in August from a year earlier, announced by Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. The export value increased by 15.7% to 351.87 billion yen. The import decreased by 12.3% to 645,953 tonnes in volume while decreased by 19.6% to 83.223 billion yen in value.The steel export volume decreased by 24.0% to USA in August from a year earlier while the export increased by 9.8% to European Union and by 5.9% to Asia. The export decreased by 1.9% to China. The export value decreased by 4.3% to USA while the export value increased by 43.1% to EU and by 14.95 to Asia. The export value increased by 6.6% to China and by 62% to Russia.The steel import volume increased by 8.7% from USA in August from a year earlier while the import decreased by 7.1% from EU and by 27.5% from Asia. The import decreased by 54.8% from China and by 15.2% from Asia and NIES while the import increased by over twice from South ASEAN. The import value increased by 1.0% from USA, by 9.5% from EU and by 2.2% from Asia while the value decreased by 19.6% from China. Thee import value increased by 70.5%.from ASEAN, by 171.4% from Middle East and by over 3 times from Russia.
