H-Beam Price Increase Slows Down in Tokyo

H-beam market price stays at around 80,000 yen per tonne for base size with 200 by 100 millimeters width due to slow distributors’ shipment despite of the higher cost pressure. The price is likely to keep the level while the dealers try to pass makers’ hikes on the reselling price. The price increased fro 76,000-77,000 yen per tonne level to 80,000 yen in past one and half month. However, the price increase speed is slowed. The demand is still slow when building start decreased by 24.7% for steel structural building in July from a year earlier compared with 13% up in May and 44% up in June. The interests see the slower demand is due to transition to new building standard law. The dealers will get arrivals of higher priced materials from makers to reflect makers’ hike. The dealers are likely to keep trying to increase the reselling price to keep and improve the margin despite of the slow demand condition.
