Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 7% in August

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 7.0% to 2.258 million tonnes in August from a year earlier, which increased for the first time in 4 months, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Tuesday. The export increased for hot rolled wide strip for 2 months in a row while the export increased for cold wide strip, galvanizing steel and plate for the first time in 3 months. The carbon steel export increased by 2.1% to 16.547 million tonnes in January-August. The total steel export increased by 0.9% to 814,000 tonnes for South Korea in August from a year earlier, which increased for 2 months in a row. The export to Thailand increased by 25.7% to 387,000 tonnes, which increased for 10 months in a row. The export to Taiwan increased by 12.5% to 314,000 tonnes, which was first increase in 2 months. The export decreased by 1.6% to 553,000 tonnes for China, which decreased for 3 months in a row. The export to USA decreased by 22.6% to 120,000 tonnes, which decreased for 6 consecutive months.
