Japan Rolled Aluminium Products Demand Steady in August

Japanese production of rolled aluminium products was 175,148 tonnes in August, which increased by 0.3% from a year earlier and represented year-to-year increase for the first time in 5 months, announced by Japan Aluminium Association. The shipment was 182,762 tonnes in August, which increased by 0.2% from a year earlier and represented year-to-year increase for 2 months in a row. The shipment was steady for aluminium cans and automotive parts.Production of aluminium plate showed year-to-year increase for 2 consecutive months and the shipment for 5 straight months in August. The demand was steady for foil material and export while slow for electric machines. Production of aluminium extrusion represented year-to-year down for 8 straight months and the shipment for 7 months. The demand was low for constructions.As to aluminium foil, the production showed year-to-year increase for 2 consecutive months while the shipment represented year-to-year down for the first time in 2 months. The demand was firm for capacitors, though decreased for daily commodities.
