Japan Import Flat Steel Stock Rises by 6.5% in September

Japanese imported flat steel inventory increased by 14,000 tonnes or 6.5% to 227,000 tonnes at quay in Tokyo and Osaka at end of September from August, announced by Hanwa Co. on Friday. The inventory increased for 2 months in a row and 13,000 tonnes or 6% higher than a year earlier. The inventory increased due to slow demand despite of lower import. The inventory in Osaka increased by 5,000 tonnes or 4.4% to 118,000 tonnes at end of September from August. The stock increased by 2,000 tonnes or 10.6% to 14,000 tonnes for plate and by 6,000 tonnes or 8.1% to 80,000 tonnes for cold rolled coil while the hot coil stock decreased by 3,000 tonnes ore 11.1% to 24,000 tonnes. The stock in Tokyo increased by 9,000 tonnes or 9% to 109,000 tonnes at end of September from August. The stock increased by 1,000 tonnes or 12.5% to 9,000 tonnes for plate, by 1,000 tonnes or 1.5% to 67,000 tonnes for hot coil and by 7,000 tonnes or 26.9% to 33,000 tonnes for cold coil.
