Japan Official Zinc Price Revised Down to 365,000 yen/t

Mitsui Mining & Smelting announced on Thursday the firm revised down the official zinc ingot price by 20,000 yen to 365,000 yen per tonne for domestic shipment in October. The latest price hit the lowest in 6 weeks to reflect the decline of overseas zinc market and the underlying trend of stronger yen against US dollar. The monthly average would be 390,500 yen without any more revision within October.Zinc settlement at London Metal Exchange dropped down by US$ 74.5 to US$ 2,855.5 per tonne on Wednesday from Tuesday. Nonferrous metals market totally declined on Wednesday with worse US existing home sales in September. The increase of LME zinc inventory also impacted the market.The telegraphic transfer selling rate was 115.08 yen per US dollar on Thursday. Yen became stronger by 1.3 yen per US dollar compared with 19 October when Mitsui Mining & Smelting previously revised the official zinc price.
