Secondary Aluminium Price Set Unchanged for Oct Shipment in Osaka

Secondary aluminium ingot price was set unchanged or partially decreased by 2-3 yen per kilogram for October shipment from Japanese secondary aluminium makers to the users such as die casting makers around Osaka, according to the sources of secondary aluminium makers. Secondary aluminium makers’ selling price became to 293-297 yen per kg for AD12.1 grade in small-lot shipment around Osaka. The highest price is even below 300 yen.Primary aluminium price at London Metal Exchange sharply surged up in late October and recovered the level as high as the end of August 2007. Japanese domestic primary aluminium price recovered above 300 yen per kg following LME. At the same time, aluminium scrap market price increased by 3-8 yen per kg in Japan when scrap generation much decreased under the influence of Japanese building standard law revision.In addition, a return case occurred for secondary aluminium imported from China and bought by the user around Nagoya in late October due to the quality trouble. Domestic secondary aluminium supply sharply tightened toward the end of October when the substitute demand emerged for the Chinese ingot and the domestic demand had maintained strong so far.Local secondary aluminium makers aim to offer the hike by more than 10 yen per kg for November shipment when the demand keeps strong, crude oil price continues surging and sub material costs are increasing such for energy and metallic silicon.
