Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 0.7% in April-September

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 0.7% to 12.61 million tonnes in April-September from same period of 2006, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Friday. The export increased for plate, galvanizing steel, tinplate, shapes and rail while the export decreased for hot rolled wide strip and cold rolled wide strip export was flat. The total steel export decreased by 5.6% to 3.03 million tonnes in the 9 months from same period of 2006. The export increased by 8.5% to 2.4 million tonnes for China and by 13.4% to 1.7 million tonnes for Thailand while the export decreased by 21.5% to 420,000 tonnes for USA and the export to Taiwan was flat at 600,000 tonnes. Japanese carbon steel export increased by 4.7% to 2.13 million tonnes in September from a year earlier, which increased for 2 months in a row.
