Japan Al Industry to Reduce Energy Consumption by 10% to F2012

Japanese 6 major aluminium re-rollers and their 16 productive sites participated in a voluntary action plan for carbon dioxide emission reduction among Japan Aluminium Association’s 43 members and their 70 productive sites. The participating 6 re-rollers produces aluminium rolled products of 1.56 million tonnes per annum which represents 85.3% of domestic total production. The total domestic production is calculated at 1.83 million tonnes per annum which does not include aluminium sashes of 530,000 tonnes produced at Japanese 5 sash makers and their 16 sites.Japan Aluminium Association launched a voluntary action plan in fiscal 2006 ended March 2007 to reduce specific energy consumption by 10% in fiscal 2010 compared with fiscal 1995. In fiscal 2007 the association reviewed the plan and raised it up the numerical target by 1 percentage point to 11% as a yearly average during fiscal 2008-2012.
