Furukawa-Sky to Expand Offshore Supply Chain

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum tries to expand aluminium supply ability for automobile industry mainly in Asia by expanding existing operations and launching new supply base. The firm doubles sales to 4 billion yen in 2009 at Indonesian extrusion operation compared with 2006 while the firm expands the sales to 4 times at 2 billion yen by 2009 at Vietnamese precision casting parts plant. The firm tries to expand the offshore plants in Indonesia, Vietnam and China in mid-term plan to fiscal 2009. The Indonesian plant operates at full capacity to meet strong demand in Southeast Asia. The Vietnamese plant’s shipment exceeded 400,000 units in first half year while the firm expands the output capacity to 1 million units by the end of 2007. Furukawa-Sky launched Chinese precision casting plant in April 2007 and establishes mass production in the year after approval from major users. The Chinese plant targets 2.5 billion yen of sales in 2009. Furukawa-Sky launched Greek sales force. The new force expands the sales mainly for Japanese transplants and tries to market for local major users.
