YKK AP Launches New Al Extrusion Plant in Kurobe

YKK AP announced on Tuesday the firm finished construction of a large-sized aluminium extrusion plant inside Kurobe works, Toyama Prefecture, Japan. The new plant had been under construction since September 2006 and the completion ceremony was held on 19 November. YKK AP completed factory automation (FA) of Kurobe works’ aluminium fabricating processes including casting, extruding, surface treating and shipping. Inside Kurobe works, a FA casting plant started operation in 1997 and a FA surface treating plant in 2003.The new plant has a 6,500-tonne aluminium extrusion equipment on 8,300 square meters floor. The total investment was 3.8 billion yen for the extrusion plant. YKK AP now holds output capacity of large-sized aluminium extrusion at 1,200 tonnes per month. The new plant is also designed to reduce carbon dioxide and noise emissions by utilization of liquefied petroleum gas.
