Kobe Wire Products (Foshan) Eyes Doubling Process Capacity

Kobe Steel groups’ wire processing operation, Kobe Wire Products (Foshan) started study for expansion to double the output of cold finishing bar and wire for cold heading for automotive application. The firm decides the expansion including new heat treatment furnace by 2010 depending on local market. The firm considers adding a new heat treatment furnace, a cold finishing machine and 2 or 3 wire drawing machines along with expansion of plant building to 13,000 square meters from current 10,000 square meters.The firm, of which Kobe Steel controls 60% with 25% share by Metal One Corporation, started output of cold finishing bar in June 2006 and of wire for cold heading in July 2007 to supply materials for automotive suspension spring and high tensile bolt and nut. The firm produces monthly 750 tonnes of cold finishing bar and 600 tonnes of wire for cold heading at the plant with a cold finishing machine, 3 wire drawing machines and a pickling and surface treatment facility.
