Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 17.5% in October

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 17.5% to 2.181 million tonnes in October from a year ago, which represented year-to-year increase for 3 consecutive months, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Monday. The export increased by 21% for hot rolled wide strip while by above 10% for plate and galvanizing sheet. Flat products export increased by 16.1% to 1.782 million tonnes while long products increased by 44.9% to 211,000 tonnes.The total steel export increased by 26.2% to 835,000 tonnes for South Korea in October from a year earlier, which showed year-to-year increase for the first time in 2 months. The export to Thailand increased by 25.7% to 385,000 tonnes, which represented year-to-year increase for 12 months in a row. The export to Taiwan increased by 16.7% to 320,000 tonnes, which showed year-to-year increase after 2 months. The export decreased by 5.8% to 512,000 tonnes for China, down for 5 consecutive months. The export to USA decreased by 4.7% to 115,000 tonnes, down for 8 consecutive months.
