Oki Electric Cable Starts Recycle of EDM Brass Wire

Oki Electric Cable announced on Monday the firm launched a recycle business of electro discharge machine (EDM) brass wire, one of the main products of Oki Electric Cable. The firm collects used EDM wire from the customers and recycles the product at its subsidiary in Xiamen, China. If the wire collection increases steadily, Oki Electric Cable examines to construct a new melting furnace for used EDM wire in Okaya factory, Nagano Prefecture, Japan where the firm produces EDM wire.The firm plans to collect used EDM wire at 20 tonnes per month in fiscal 2008 starting April and 60 tonnes per month in fiscal 2010. The collecting rate to the primary shipment will become 60% in fiscal 2010. Oki Electric Cable will provide new EDM wire of 20 kilogram for the customers in return to used EDM wire of 70 kg. The firm will also cover packaging and transporting costs for used EDM wire collection.EDM is a machine to manufacture metals with a metal wire as thin as a hair, for which brass wire is mainly used with 65% copper and 35% zinc.
