Bando Densen to Expand High Value Added FFC

Bando Densen, an independent electric cable maker headed in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, enjoys favorable sales of flexible flat cable (FFC). Especially the sales of “BIC card,” Bando’s original FFC for high frequency and high speed transmission, are increasing to above 100 million yen per month adopted into Japanese major game console and other electronic appliances. The firm expects BIC card to be adopted for large flat-screen televisions.Copper conductors of BIC card are packaged by an aluminium foil which shields outer noises. Demand for shield-type FFC is increasing in late years to transmit large-size data such as movie signals at high speed. BIC card for Japanese major game console contains no halogen elements and the cable terminations are plated by gold to prevent whisker generation. Bando produces BIC card all at its subsidiary in Shanghai, China.Bando gains 25% of its annual revenue from FFC, whose consolidated sales were 8.6 billion yen in 2006 and is estimated to become above 9 billion yen in 2007. The firm aims to raise the sales ratio of new products to 20% toward 2009 from current 5%. BIC card is one of leading products which is higher valued than general FFC.
