Tokyo Electric Wire Industrial Gets ISO/TS16949 at Overseas Plants

Tokyo Electric Wire Industrial, Tokyo based independent electric cable maker, advances obtainment of ISO/TS16949 certification at its overseas plants. The firm acquired the certifications at Shanghai plant and Dongguan plant in China during April-May 2007 while plans to obtain the certification at Ayutthaya plant in Thailand within 2008. ISO/TS16949 is a quality management system for automotive parts which is required for each plant when auto parts makers supply the products to European and US automakers.Tokyo Electric Wire Industrial had obtained ISO/TS16949 certification at its French plant, Todenko Europe, and supplied wiring harnesses to European automakers and auto system makers. The firm closed Todenko Europe in autumn 2006 and newly obtained ISO/TS16949 certification at Dongguan plant to continue the product supply. Dongguan plant has been a low-cost production base for European market so far.Tokyo Electric Wire Industrial aims to produce and sell wiring harness for automotive appliances at Shanghai plant to Chinese auto market. In Thailand, worldwide automakers and auto system makers establish their productive bases. Tokyo Electric Wire Industrial expects its Ayutthaya plant can expand the sales largely by acquiring ISO/TS16949 certification.Tokyo Electric Wire Industrial’s consolidated annual sales were approximately 20 billion yen including overseas plants in 2006. The main products are wiring harness for home appliances and office automation machines. The firm aims to expand the sales of auto related products.
