Secondary Aluminium Makers to Offer 15 Yen/kg Hike for Dec

Japanese secondary aluminium ingot makers will offer the ingot users, such as die casting makers, the price hike by 15 yen per kilogram for December shipment in the negotiations starting in late December. Secondary aluminium makers could not put material cost up on the selling price enough in November though the November shipping price upped for the first time in late 7 months. Aluminium scrap price keeps high in December, the main material for secondary aluminium, and the makers aim to improve their profitability sooner.Secondary aluminium price was raised up by around 3-5 yen per kg for AD 12.1 grade for November shipment while the makers had offered the hike by more than 15 yen. Domestic market price of primary aluminium ingot is decreasing to 280-290 yen per kg after mid November, which hit the yearly lowest level. However, secondary aluminium makers’ purchasing price downed by only 5 yen per kg for high grade aluminium scrap in the first half of December when aluminium scrap generation is much decreasing in winter season. Low grade scrap price kept flat or surged by 2-3 yen due to the tight supply.
