Nisshin Steel to Expand Pipe Operations in USA, China and India

Nisshin Steel tries to expand the steel pipe output for automobile industry in North America, India and China. The firm eyes stainless pipe mill at the Indian joint venture and expansion for stainless pipe output in USA. The firm will meet growing demand from offshore transplants of Japanese automakers. Nisshin Steel operates Nisshin Automotive Tubing (NAT) in Versailles, Kentucky of USA and ANS Steel Tubes in Faridabad, Haryana of India while the firm launches stainless pipe production at Ningbo Baoxin Stainless Steel in Ningbo, China in March 2008. NAT started the operation in July 2005 to make automotive stainless pipe for exhaust pipe. The output increases to more than 200 tonnes per month in October 2007 and the firm tries to pump up the output to 300 tonnes of full capacity in 2008. The firm also eyes doubling expansion. Nisshin Steel launched ANS Steel Tubes, which is joint venture with JBM Group of India and Sumitomo Corporation, in August 2007 to make annual 30,000 tonnes of carbon steel automobile pipe. The joint venture would add stainless pipe making mill in and after 2008. Ningbo Baoxin Stainless Steel builds new stainless pipe plant with 10,000 tonnes of annual output capacity to start operation in March 2008. The pipe plant is to serve automobile industry, especially for transplants of Japanese automakers.
