Metal Stock to Secure 10,000 tonnes of Ferrous Scrap toward May Holiday

Metal Stock, which is joint ferrous scrap stockpile firm by 11 small bar making electric furnace steel makers around Tokyo, decided to build more than 10,000 tonnes of H2 scrap inventory to prepare for output increase in major holiday in early May 2008. The stock building is the first attempt 3-day holiday weekend in late November. The firm starts to build scrap inventory one month ahead of the holiday in May. The firm tried to build 6,000-7,000 tonnes of inventory in November to secure materials for the member companies while the members submitted 9,000 tonnes of order for the firm. However, the firm secured only 5,000 tonnes due to limited delivery capacity. The firm studies additional stock yard to build larger inventory. The firm tires to have capacity to secure up to 20,000 tonnes of stock and studies potential regular stock keeping.
