Sankyo-Tateyama to Make Mg Alloy with Ube Industries’ Tech

Sankyo-Tateyama Holdings announced on Tuesday the firm introduces a productive technology for magnesium alloy billet from Ube Industries, Japanese major chemical maker, to Toyama Alloy, an affiliate of Sankyo-Tateyama Holdings Group to produce aluminium alloy billet. Sankyo-Tateyama will invest 200 million yen to organize productive facilities for magnesium alloy billet with annual output capacity at 550 tonnes, 350 tonnes for wheels and 200 tonnes for extrusions, and start the commercial operation in autumn 2008. The firm aims to grow up the magnesium alloy billet production as its new core business following the aluminium alloy billet production business.Sankyo-Tateyama targets extrusion, forging and special billets such for auto races as 3 application fields of magnesium alloy billet. Sankyo-Tateyama Aluminium Group including Toyama Alloy signed a contract with Ube Industries on 25 October, 2007 along which Ube Industries discloses its producing technology of magnesium alloy billet. The group will enhance the magnesium businesses with its technology to melt, refine and solidify sulfur hexafluoride free magnesium alloy and cooperation with a magnesium business unit of Sankyo Material, another affiliate of Sankyo-Tateyama Holding Group.
