Japan Distributors Seek New Price System for Copper Alloy Products

Copper alloy product price system among Japanese distributors should be reviewed, said Kenji Fukuda, a chairperson of Market Research Committee of Tokyo Copper Alloy Products Distributors Association, at a press conference on Wednesday. He gave ideas such as fixing the reselling price for a certain definite period or changing the sales unit from current by kilogram to by one unit of products.Mr. Fukuda said the distributors could keep the selling price for months as rolled light metal products while the distributors change the selling price depending on copper price. Japanese rolled light metal products dealers revise the price every 3 months. The buyers could resist the change when the price could keep higher for copper ingot price. However, Mr. Fukuda said the fixed price could also benefit the buyers. He suggested the dealers could sell at price per unit instead of current price per kg. The unit price system could benefit the buyers without complicated calculation.
