Japan Steel Export Rises by 4.7% in 2007

Japanese steel export increased by 4.7% to 36.488 million tonnes in 2007 from 2006, announced by Ministry of Finance on Thursday. The export value increased by 16% to 4.043 trillion yen. The steel import increased by 7.4% to 8.408 million tonnes and by 29.5% to 981.662 billion yen. The export increased when the export jumped for European Union and Asian countries. The import increased from USA and Russia in volume and from Asia, Middle East and Russia in value. The export decreased by 17.5% to USA in 2007 while the export increased by 9.8% to EU and by 7.0% to Asian countries. The export increased by 2% to China, by 6.1% to Asian New Industrializing Economies and by 14.9% to Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The export to Russia increased by 32.8%. The export value increased by 23.5% to EU and by 18.9% to Asia while the value decreased by 4.4% to USA. The value increased by 10.9% to China, by 20.4% to Asian NIES and by 22.4% to ASEAN. The value increased by 69.4% to Russia. The import volume increased by 11.7% from USA and by 0.8% from Asia in 2007 from 2006 while the import from EU decreased by 3.5%. The import increased from ASEAN by 46.3% while the import from China decreased by 15.4%. The import increased by 116.1% from Middle East and by 12.1% from Russia. The import value increased by 9.1% from EU and by 24.8% from Asia while the value decreased by 0.2% from USA. The import value increased by 18.7% from China, by 23.7% from Asian NIES and by 53.8% from ASEAN. The value increased by 99.4% from Middle East and by 28% from Russia.
