Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable Expands XLPE Cable Output Capacity by 35%

Osaka based electric wire maker, Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable expanded the output capacity of cross linked polyethylene insulated vinyl sheathed cable (XLPE cable) for construction by 35% to monthly 1,500 tonnes. The firm tries to increase the output mainly for middle sized cable with 8-100 square millimeters in cross section of conductor. The firm renewed a wire drawing machine while started mass production at a multi task production line, which can insulate conductors with silane cross-linked polyethylene and extrude the outer sheath at the same time. The firm also improves the efficiency by integrating the lines. The firm introduced a wire drawing machine, a conductor stranding machine, an insulation and extrusion machine and a cutting machine in October for 900 million yen. The firm started commercial operation by end of 2007. The firm renewed an old wire drawing machine. The new line can draw the wire with 8 mm to minimum 1.2 mm in one process while the old machine needed 2 processes for the drawing. The stranding machine makes 7-wire strand with 8-38 square mm in cross section of conductor at maximum 115 meters per minute of line speed. The insulation and extrusion machine can make insulation for silane cross-linked polyethylene and extrusion of sheath at same time while the lines were separated before. The machine can make products 8-100 square mm in cross section of conductor at maximum 180 meters per minute of line speed. The machine improves the efficiency while the integrated line can reduce materials transport and materials in process.
