Showa Denko to Hike High Purity Aluminium Foil for Capacitor

Showa Denko announced on Wednesday the firm increases the selling price of high purity aluminium foil for capacitor. The firm increases the price by 50 yen per kilogram for high voltage foil and 40 yen for low voltage anode foil effective on April 1. The firm tries to keep stable supply though the hike while the firm tries to reduce the cost through better productivity. The firm already increased the price twice in 2007. The firm tried to improve the profitability through 10-15% hike for rolling charge from April 1, 2007 shipment and 7-15% or 20-100 yen per kg hike from October. However, the firm is suffered from higher cost for energy and materials along with freight. The firm decided the additional hike to cover higher primary aluminium premium. Demand for high purity aluminium foil for capacitor increases for flat panel television and cell phone. The supplies operate the foil plant at full capacity but they are suffered from higher cost for raw materials.
