Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 3.5% in 2007

Japanese carbon steel export increased to 25.199 million tonnes by 3.5% in 2007 from 2006, which increased for 2 consecutive years, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Tuesday. Japanese special steel export increased to 5.789 million tonnes by 8.7%, which increased for 2 consecutive years, which was highest record after 2004. All steel export including ferroalloy or pig iron increased to 36.853 million tonnes by 4.7%, which was second high after 1976.Steel sheet export for hot rolled, cold rolled and zinc coated steel sheet increased to 15.288 million tonnes by 3.9% in 2007 from 2006. Plate export increased to 3.244 million tones by 9%. Shaped steel export increased to 1.08 million tonnes by 27.9%. All long products export increased to 2.456 million tones by 5.4%.The total amount of steel export increased to US$ 36.61431 billion by 14.4% in 2007 from 2006, which renewed highest for 5 consecutive years. As for yen rate, the amount of the export increased to 4314.5 billion yen, which was highest after 1982.The total steel export increased by 9.5% to 9.591 million tonnes for South Korea in 2007 from last year, which increased for 2 consecutive years. The export to China increased by 2.3% to 6.342 million tonnes, which increased for 2 consecutive years. The export to Thailand increased by 4.302 million tonnes by 15.5%, which increased for the first time in 2 years. The export to Taiwan increased to 3.599 million tonnes by 2.0% for the first time in 2 years. While the export to USA decreased to 1.66 million tonnes by 16.6%, which decreased for the fist time in 4 years.
