SWS to Establish New Automotive Wiring Harness Plant in Vietnam

Sumitomo Wiring Systems (SWS), a 100% subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries to produce automotive wiring harnesses, announced on Monday the firm establishes a new plant in Vietnam with approximately 1.9 billion yen investment. Vietnamese new plant will supply automotive wiring harnesses mainly for Japanese and US automakers, which will start operation in January 2009 and aim the annual sales at US$ 90 million with about 2,500 employees at the end of December 2011. SWS will become to have 3 automotive wiring harness plants in Vietnam.The new productive subsidiary, Sumi Vietnam Wiring Systems, will be established inside an industrial estate in Dong Vang Province with a capital at US$ 17 million (approximately 2 billion yen) totally invested by SWS. The plant floors will be 25,000 square meters on the site of 100,000 square meters.SWS operates about 120 group companies in 31 countries including Japan whose overseas output ratio of automotive wiring harness is 90%.
