Kanto Steel Raises Rebar Price by 10,000 y/t in February

Kanto Steel, thin reinforcing steel bar maker around Tokyo, increased the selling price by 10,000 yen per tonne to 80,000 yen for the shipping in February from the ended of last week when ferrous scrap price, ferroalloy price and electric power charge increased.The firm’s shipping decreased to 23,000 tonnes by 25% in January compared with common level due to decreased demand by the revision of Japanese building standard law. The firm reduced the output to 19,000 tonnes for domestic market in February. The firm contracted the export at 3,000 tonnes per month from the shipping in December 2007 to the shipping in February, which corresponded against decreased demand.Ferrous scrap price keeps higher zone at over 40,000 yen per tonne. Electric power charge increased by 180% in April-June corresponding period of 2002. Silicon-manganese price increased by 370% in April-June corresponding period of 2002, too.
