Showa Denko plans annual capital expenditure at 82.2 billion yen for 2008, increasing by 18.6% from 2007. Capex will be applied mainly to the electronics division, which the firm regards as one of core businesses, and Oyama works in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan for the aluminium division.
Annual capex for the electronics division is increased by 16.9% to 51.9 billion yen in 2008 from 2007 to meet the increasing demand for hard discs and light emitting diodes. For the aluminium division, 12.2 billion yen will be invested in 2008, up by 15.1% from 2007. The firm plans renewal of melting and casting facilities in Oyama works while the capex will be also applied for Sakai works in Osaka. Annual capex will increase year-on-year for the chemical and inorganic product divisions as well.
