Osaka Titanium Technologies to Make Airplane Grade Alloy

Osaka Titanium Technologies tries to get certification at Amagasaki plant, Hyogo to supply titanium alloy ingot for airplane as new Kishiwada plant, Osaka. The firm accelerates to ship alloy ingot through certification for pure titanium melting furnace at Amagasaki ahead of Kishiwada. The firm builds 2 vacuum arc remelting furnaces at new Kishiwada plant for 4.7 billion yen to increase the ingot output capacity to annual 10,000 tonnes. The first furnace starts operation in July 2009 and the second furnace starts shipment in October 2009. The firm utilizes the one of the furnaces to make annual 1,500 tonnes of ingot for alloy for airplane. The firm starts mass production of titanium alloy with 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium for airplane. The firm applies the certification, which is expected to take 2 years, at Amagasaki for early shipment of the alloy. The firm will expand the melting furnace capacity at Kishiwada and get airplane certification for alloy melting at all furnaces including Amagasaki. The firm expands the sponge titanium output capacity from current 24,000 tonnes per year to 41,000 tonnes by October 2009. The firm tries to expand the capacity while the firm seeks higher products mix with the alloy production.
