Nippon Steel to Hike Tinplate, Tin Free Steel by Over 20,000 yen/t

Nippon Steel announced on Tuesday the firm increases the selling price of tinplate and tin free steel by more than 20,000 yen per tonne for April shipment. The firm tries to pass higher cost for iron ore, coking coal, ferrous scrap and freight through the first hike since October 2007. The domestic demand is still low level while the offshore demand is firm for tinplate and blackplate. The firm tries to improve the profitability to keep stable supply under tight steel source.
