Kobe Steel to Hike Welding Materials by Over 20%

Kobe Steel’s welding unit announced on Wednesday the unit increases the selling price of all general welding materials by more than 20% for users effective on April 1 shipment. The unit decided the hike to keep stable supply and secure raw materials when the price is expected to jump for raw materials including steel wire rod. The unit tries to improve the profitability through the first hike since 10% hike in September 2007. The unit increases the selling price of welding materials including flux cored wire, solid wire, welding bar and submerged arc welding materials, not including welding materials for stainless steel, aluminium and backing plate, for distributors and contract users including shipbuilders, automakers and construction machinery makers.
