Mitsubishi Aluminum to Hike Aluminium Foil Rolling Charge by 50-70 yen/kg

Mitsubishi Aluminum announced on Tuesday the firm increases the rolling charge of commodity grade aluminium foil by 50-70 yen per kilogram for March shipment. The firm tries to pass higher processing cost under higher oil price, packaging cost and other materials cost along with higher cost for loss materials though the firm passed higher cost price of the ingot through past hikes. The firm tries to improve the profitability through the hike. The firm said the firm needs the hike to keep stable supply and keep the operation when the users seek higher quality even for commodity grade products. The firm starts negotiation with individual users for higher rolling charge. Toyo Aluminium already announced the hike for February shipment. The firm increases the price of foil for electrolytic capacitor by more than 30 yen per kg for middle- and high-voltage products and by more than 40 yen for low-voltage and cathode products and increases plain foil price by more than 60 yen. Showa Denko announced the firm increases the high purity foil rolling charge by 7-15% or 20-100 yen per kg for capacitor for October shipment. The foil makers are suffered from higher cost when they cannot increase the selling price. They decided to pass the higher cost after they realized they cannot cover the cost only by own cost cut effort.
