Japan Small Bar Export Jumps in November

Japanese small steel bar export was 28,435 tonnes in November, which was 51.6% higher than October and 31.1% higher than a year earlier, according to Ministry of Finance. The export jumped to 25,056 tonnes for South Korea, which was 76.8% higher than October and double of a year earlier. Japanese small bar makers try to increase the export under very slow domestic market. The small bar export was 830 tonnes to China in November, which was 20.9% lower than October and 15.9% higher than a year earlier. The export was 649 tonnes to Vietnam, which was 67.1% lower than October and 3.7% lower than a year earlier. Japanese electric furnace steel makers increased the billet export to 92,044 tonnes in November, which was 19.2% higher than October and 85% higher than a year earlier. The export to South Korea was 70,284 tonnes, which was 2.7 times of October and 1.3% lower than a year earlier. The export to Taiwan was 6,891 tonnes, which was around 10 times of October and 30.7% lower than a year earlier. The export to Vietnam increased by 1.7% to 5,913 tonnes from a year earlier.
