Sumitomo Metals Raises Steel Tube Price in F2008

Sumitomo Metal Industries, Japanese major steel tube maker, will raise the selling price of steel tube for domestic users in fiscal 2008 at the ended of March 2009. Yasuo Imai, managing director, said in New Year’s party of the firm in January 9th.Mr. Imai said the firm passes the higher cost along to users when material price and freight cost are increasing. He explained the firm will increase the selling price for seamless steel tube and gas pipe by over 15% from fiscal 2007. The firm is mulling timing for the price hike.
