Japan Official Zinc Price Rebounds to 280,000 Yen/t

Mitsui Mining & Smelting announced on 11 April the firm revised up the official zinc ingot price by 5,000 yen to 280,000 yen per tonne for domestic shipment in April. The latest revision reflected the upsurge of overseas zinc market and weaker yen against US dollar. Monthly average would be 278,000 yen without any more revision within April.Zinc spot price at London Metal Exchange was US$ 2,330.5 per tonne at settlement on 10 April, up by US$ 25 from the previous day. LME zinc price was steady at above US$ 2,300 when commodity markets were strong for crude oil and gold. Telegraphic transfer selling rate was 102.92 yen per US dollar on 11 April, which was temporarily above 98 yen per US dollar in mid March.
