Al Scrap Purchasing Price Set Unchanged for 2H of April, Tokyo

Secondary aluminium alloy makers around Tokyo agreed with local scrap dealers to set the scrap purchasing price unchanged for shipment during 16-30 April compared with 1-15 April. The purchasing price kept almost flat even though overseas primary aluminium exceeded US$ 3,000 per tonne again in mid April and maintained steady. The alloy makers approved marginal price down for aluminium scrap purchasing in the first half of April.Secondary aluminium alloy makers are mostly under the full operations. They are actively purchasing aluminium scrap. An alloy maker source said demand for secondary aluminium alloy keeps strong from automobile makers as total, though some automakers are adjusting the production around Tokyo due to slow down of US auto demand.Scrap generation is gradually increasing in the region, said a scrap dealer source. However, generation of building material scrap is still low due to slower housing starts in Japan, the main material used at secondary aluminium alloy makers.
